Urban Meyer’s Pint House —
At the end of September, Buckeye fans were treated to a new game in town. It was the opening of Urban Meyer’s Pint House in the newly developed Bridge Park area of Dublin.
“As a native Ohioan and proud former coach of the greatest college football program in the country, I wanted to be a part of creating an experience worthy of Buckeye residents and fans all across the country,” Meyer said in a press release.
The two-story restaurant has a very open concept with TVs everywhere. There are horseshoe-shaped bars on both the lower and upper levels. The lower level bar has a 21-TV matrix above it, so you won’t miss a moment of the game.
There is a private event space called the 7-0 Room as a nod to Urban’s record against the team up north. And on the extensive drink menu is the brand new “7-0 Ale,” a Kölsch-style craft beer brewed specifically for the Pint House by Land-Grant Brewing Company.
Other drinks have been developed with input from Shelley Meyer, including
“Shelley’s Frosé,” a frozen cocktail made with frozen rosé, grapefruit Absolut vodka, fresh strawberries and lemon. It’s served with a pink flamingo straw, but if you can’t get enough flamingo, try “Shelley’s Punch Bowl,” a flamingo-shaped shareable for four to six people. Proceeds from the sale of the bowl benefit the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research. I tried the “Shelley’s Frosé” and found it to be light, very grapefruity and not too sweet.
Don’t think that just because this is a sports bar that they only serve standard pub fare! Urban Meyer partnered with Chris Corso of Corso Ventures — owner of Forno Kitchen + Bar, Short North Food Hall, Standard Hall, Goody Boy Diner and the Short North Pint House restaurants — to develop his menu. Urban’s personal favorite from Forno, linguine and clams, is available at the Pint house.
During my visit I tried the arancini (fried risotto balls with fontina cheese served with San Marzano sauce), avocado bruschetta, the ahi tuna taco and pasta Forno. I was least impressed with the pasta Forno, but the taco and the arancini were unique and very good. If you are interested in traditional sports bar food, Urban Meyer’s Pint House will not disappoint. Pizza, salads and sandwiches are always available along with homemade desserts like warm sticky toffee pudding and buckeye cheesecake.
Urban Meyer’s Pint House is a place to delight Buckeyes, sports fans and even foodies. The memorabilia from Urban’s coaching career can be found all over the room, and there’s even a Brutus Buckeye at the front door that guests can pose with! The Pint House is open from 3:00 PM - midnight Monday to Thursday, 11:00 AM - 2:00 AM Friday and Saturday or 11:00 AM - midnight Sunday.
